Welcome to the Great Western Chapter (GWC)

My name is Matt Garty and, as Director of the Great Western Chapter (GWC), I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to our Great Western H.O.G® website.

If you’re not familiar with the Chapter community, joining may feel like a daunting prospect especially when there are so many established members. Please don’t worry. I, like every other member, felt exactly the same before taking the plunge and joining.

We are a very friendly group, and from the very first meeting or event you attend, you will be made to feel very welcome. As you become more involved with the Chapter, you’ll quickly make new friends and experience the bond that holds us together. As many members have discovered, the Chapter soon becomes like a second family.

There are many events and activities to get involved in, including:

  • Monthly meeting nights in the Bristol area, keeping you informed about what’s happening in the Chapter and the HOG community

  • Monthly ride-outs, all led by Harley-Davidson trained Road Captains and supported by experienced marshals

  • Organised trips to selected rallies across the UK and Europe, along with other social activities

  • Our annual rally, the Great Western Rumble, held mid-year, where all members are encouraged to get involved with planning and helping throughout the rally weekend

All members have access to our quarterly magazine, Roadhog, available via the GWC website. We actively encourage members to submit their own articles, whether about themselves, their bike history, or events they’ve attended. Additional information is shared via email and, of course, through the GWC website and Socail media.

Our main aim, as a group of friends, is simple: to have fun, enjoy our bikes, and ride to new destinations. One area we take a little more seriously while still having fun is our charity work. Each quarter, we select a charity to support through our fundraising activities.

Why Join the Great Western Chapter (GWC)?

Joining the Great Western Chapter isn’t just about riding a Harley-Davidson, it’s about becoming part of a welcoming community that shares your passion for bikes, friendship, and great experiences.

Whether you’re new to Chapter life or an experienced rider, GWC offers something for everyone.

A Friendly, Supportive Community

From your very first event, you’ll be welcomed by fellow members who remember exactly what it felt like to be new. Many of our members quickly discover that GWC becomes more than a riding group.

Ride with Confidence

Our regular ride-outs are led by Harley-Davidson trained Road Captains and supported by experienced marshals, ensuring rides are well organised, safe, and enjoyable for riders of all experience levels.

Events, Rallies & Adventures

As a member, you can enjoy:

  • Monthly Chapter meetings and ride-outs

  • Organised trips to rallies across the UK and Europe

  • Social events throughout the year

  • Our own annual rally, the Great Western Rumble, where members play a key role in making it a success
