Matt Garty

Assistant Director, Historian & Photographer

Hi my name is Matt and I’m the Chapter Historian and Photographer. My main role involves working with other members to assemble a collection of photos and materials that document the life of the Chapter and also make a record of Chapter activities, names of Chapter Officers and membership levels. I also have to input photos of the activities we do onto the website, as and when I catch you. I will also be taking photos for our “new members” section of our mag “RoadHOG”.

If any members have photos they will have taken at any of this year’s Chapter ride outs or events and would like to see them on the web site, please send them to me via photographer@greatwesternchapter.uk.

I first started riding motor cross bikes at the age of 10. And started riding on the road at 16 on an Yamaha RD50 then RD125 ( I wish I still had them as they would be worth a small fortune now). I gradually stepped up through the CC’s and have been riding 1000cc super sport Japanese bikes until meeting Big Al and admiring his green Heritage bike sitting outside our office. That’s when the Harley bug started and my kids arranged a demo at Riders and I bought my first Harley Davidson in 2018.

I joined the GWC in 2018 and in 2019 I became a Road Marshal. I have just taken on the Historian and Photographer role starting January 2021.

Look forward to seeing you at Club nights and events!
