About

Hi,

My name is Andy Kendall, aka Genghis, and as Director of Great Western Chapter (GWC) I wish you a very warm welcome to our Great Western H.O.G® website.

You may not be familiar with the Chapter community, and it may seem a daunting prospect if you are thinking of joining us, especially when there are so many established members.

However, no need to worry. I, like every other member shared the same anxiety when we first took the ‘plunge’ and joined. We are a very friendly group and from the first meeting or event that you attend you will be made most welcome by us all. As you get involved with the Chapter you will quickly make new friends and experience the bond that holds us together. As many of the members have discovered the Chapter is treated like ‘a second family’.

There are many events that hopefully will interest you to join in:-

  • We have a monthly meeting night in the Bristol area, which keeps you informed on what’s going on

  • There are monthly rideouts, all taken by Harley trained Road Captains and experienced marshals. Along with organised trips to chosen rallies in the UK & Europe and other social activities

  • Mid year we have our very own annual rally “Great Western Rumble” and all members are invited to get involved both for planning and helping out over the rally weekend

All our members have access to our quarterly magazine “Roadhog” via the GWC website, and we encourage members to submit their own articles, either about themselves, their bike history or an event they attended. Other information is circulated by email and of course there is the GWC website.

Our main aim, as a group of friends, is to have fun, enjoy our bikes and ride to many new destinations. However, one thing we take a little more seriously, whilst still having fun, is our charity work. Every two to three years we select a charity to help with their fund raising. In July 2019 we decided to support Headway Bristol, ‘Improving life after brain injury’. This charity is based at the old Frenchay Hospital site. They are a local charity with over 40 years experience in helping survivors of brain injury to live as independently as possible. Not only do we raise funds, but we take a ‘hands on’ approach and assist in many of the projects and events held by the charity.

Hope to see you soon.
