About the event
This is a Chapter-Members-Only event.
This month’s ride will take us to Blakes Kitchen at Clanfield, Oxfordshire, erstwhile haunt of Henry Cole as advertised on his Motorbike Show. It looked like a good destination and looking at the assortment of excellent roads to get there made it an absolute must for a Chapter ride.
Meet at the Compass, Tormarton GL9 1JB at 9.30am for briefing and departure at 10am.Â
The route will take us on some scenic roads to the outskirts of Malmesbury, through Broad Town taking in a view of a grubby white horse on the left, onwards to the A361 with a view of the  Hackpen Hill white horse. We then follow the a361 to Chiseldon where we will have a comfort break which is about an hour into our journey.
Duly comforted we will then head along The Ridgeway, Ermine Street towards the Lambourne Downs. These are fabulous roads which we don’t travel on that often as a Chapter and which are a real treat. We then make our way to the main event, Blakes Kitchen which we think are well within, or even exceed, the acceptable levels for a lunch/brunch stop.
Our return journey will take us on a nice B road through Highworth after which we cross the A419 at Blunsden and head towards Cricklade turning onto the B4040 to Malmesbury, through Malmesbury and continue on the B4040 towards Acton Turville and on to the finish at The Compass.
Total mileage for the ride is about 120 miles and we should be back at the Compass between 2.30 pm and 3pm.
As ever quite a bit of work has gone into the preparation of this ride in identifying some very nice roads and a good destination so if you are able to make it you won’t be disappointed.
