Boys only weekend

We will take a scenic ride down on Friday the 20th of October and returning on the Sunday. The city is known for its maritime heritage and offers plenty to see and do. A ride around the scenic Devonshire countryside will be organised for the Saturday for those that want to venture out.

The hotel we have booked is the Premier Inn, city centre,  Lockyers Quay. It is situated a stones throw from the Barbican with all its pubs and eating establishments. You may also wish to visit the Harley Davidson dealership in Plymouth which is only a few miles away.

The details are: Premier Inn (1 Lockyers Quay Plymouth PL4 0DX) staying for 2 nights on the 20th and 21st of October 2023. Total cost for 2 nights bed and breakfast is £165.00, all rooms are double with single occupancy. There is a daily parking charge of £6 per 24 hours payable directly with the hotel , however parking is limited being a city centre hotel so we may need to park several bikes per parking space.  As with last years’ trip if you wish to attend you will need to pay a deposit of £30.00 with the balance of £135.00 payable no later than the 31st of August. Please note spaces are limited to 42 rooms so will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please can you email myself and Neil when you have paid your deposit of £30.00.

Friday and Saturday reporting instructions

Instructions for Fridays ride down and Saturdays Ride out

We have a very scenic route lined up for our ride to Plymouth, weather & road conditions permitting and a plan B just in case.

The meeting point is Sedgemoor services on the M5 (south just in case!), where there are plenty of food options if you fancy a bit of brekkie before setting off.

The briefing will be at 9:45 am and DEPARTING at 10:00 am.

Please ensure you have enough fuel to get you to our first petrol stop at 90 miles. The final petrol stop at Plymouth is 125 miles.

We’ll start with a short ride down the M5 getting off at J23, through Bridgwater, heading to Exmoor and onto our first leg stretch, coffee & drain at Wheddon Cross, parking up behind the Rest & Be Thankful Inn.

We’ll then head further onto Exmoor to Simonsbath and then south via South Molton to Dartmoor.  Our lunch time break is at the Hog & Hedge services, just off the A30 at Whiddon Down, where there are plenty of food options and plenty of petrol pumps.

Next onto Dartmoor with a possible stop at the Old Police Station Café, Princetown, depending on the weather and how we are progressing.

When we leave Dartmoor and onto Yelverton, we’ll skirt around Plymouth to the Sainsbury’s at the Marsh Mills roundabout to fuel up ready for the Saturday rideout, then onto our hotel.

Saturday Ride Out.

Meet in Hotel car park at 10:00 for briefing and we leave at 10:30, visiting the local dealership, Bodmin Moor beofre searching for pirastes along the south coast of Cornwall.
