Dear Members,

If you are seriously interested in this magnificent trip, it’s time to commit!

The idea of visiting Norway in 2025 to attend the Norwegian HOG rally and ride iconic roads is all systems go.

The date of the 2025 HOG Norwegian Rally is Thursday 31stJuly to Sunday 3rd August, with the location being 1 hour west of Kristiansand on the south coast, which just so happens to be a ferry port. Our route to the rally will be via Harwich to Hook of Holland, catching the overnight ferry on Monday 28th July, riding to Hirtshals at the tip of Denmark, with two overnight stops, then a day ferry over to Kristiansand.

After the rally we’ll head up the rugged west coast of Norway as far as the Atlantic Ocean Road, taking in breathtaking scenery, fjords, tunnels, waterfalls and ferry crossings where the roads disappear!

The return trip will take us via more magnificent scenery to Bergen where we’ll catch an overnight ferry back to Denmark, then back to Hook of Holland.

The official GWC tour will be 20 days, however, if anyone would like to extend their tour and travel further north to the Arctic Circle (850 miles / 20 hrs round trip) or Nordkapp (2,300 miles / 48 hrs round trip), you are very welcome to do this as a GYOW.

If you are interested we suggest booking now, as rally accommodation is already in short supply and ferry prices will only increase, so these are the next steps:-

1) Book the Stena Line Harwich to Hook of Holland overnight ferry by “FLEXI TICKET” return basis, outbound Monday 28thJuly 2025, 23:00, inbound Saturday 16th August, 22:00. This allows us to make changes if necessary!

2) Book rally tickets £40 (550 NOK) via this link https://event.checkin.no/77539, which takes you onto hotel accommodation, the first hotel Lindesnes Havhotell is already full for single and double rooms, but 2 and 3 berth apartments are still available. There is a second hotel Rosfjord hotel in Lyngdal which is 20 mins away by shuttle bus.

3) Book the Color Line Hirtshals to Kristiansand ferry for Thursday 31st July 2025, 12:15 pm. We found the Direct Line website easier to follow.

4) Book the Fjord Line Bergen to Hirtshals overnight ferry by “FLEXI TICKET” one way basis, Thursday 14thAugust, 13:30.

As we progress with our route planning, we’ll give you a list of hotels / chalets / wild camping sites (only joking) to book.

Rough costs to date:-

Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry circa £550 return, subject to cabin class.

Hirtshals to Kristiansand ferry £79.75 with Flexi £100.17.

Bergen to Hirtshals ferry £441 Euro, subject to cabin class.

Rally ticket NOK 550 (£40) each.

Rally accommodation 6 person apartment (3 double bedrooms) NOK 4000 (£291) per night

Please note, Norway is a rugged landscape with many ups and down via hairpin bends, so you need to be confident of your ability to ride in these conditions. Look on YouTube “The best motorcycle roads – Western Norway” for the type of roads you will encounter.
